How to get Power for Free

I am Paul and I thank you for stopping by at my website.

I have created this website because I have always been interested in green, alternative and renewable energy sources and how to get power for free - and I like to share my ideas and findings with you here.

Peak oil, pollution, dwindling energy re- sources, escalating energy costs are topics every one of us is more and more confronted with. Lots of questions - but are there any answers?

So what about Free Power?

People often say: “The only free thing in life is death - and that costs your life!” (not to mention the horrendous funeral costs). But there are a few other free things as well - and Free Power is one of them. Think about it, the sun shines and directs its enormous heat energy towards us and we don’t have to pay for it - it is free.

Wind is blowing, in some places more than others and some days more than the next - but it is free, we don’t have to put some coins into a meter so the wind starts blowing, do we?

So, wouldn’t it make sense to use this power - isn’t this a way of how to get power for free?

Yes, of course we need to invest in technology to harness the power, to turn wind or solar power into electrical energy that can run our appliances, but once this is done, you get the generated power for free.

What is Green Energy?

Energy that is and can be generated in an environmentally friendly and non-polluting way is considered to be “green”, like solar, wind or hydro power. No huge smoke stacks emitting dark brown smoke - let alone the unseen hazards. Some people regard nuclear energy as “green” too, but I have a real hard time with that, even if nuclear power has the smallest CO2 output - it does leave tonnes of radioactive
waste behind, which will cause headaches for generations to come.

What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable Energy - as the name suggests, is energy that can be reproduced and used indefinitely. It is constantly replenished and will never run out.

The main sources for renewable energy are:

·             Solar

·             Wind

·             Hydro

·             Geothermal

·             Biomass

Wind Power

Wind power has been used and turned into energy for centuries - think wind mills to grind corn.

Today, wind power is becoming again an important contributor to our energy creation, both on a large commercial scale in the form of wind farms and also for the smaller scale home generation of electric power. You can even have a go at  creating your own wind turbine in order to get power for free to run your household appliances.

Hydro Power

Hydro power has also been used for centuries to drive machinery - think of the water mills to grind grain for instance.    Today it is more used in large hydro power plants, where the kinetic energy of the water that is stored behind a dam is used to drive electricity generating turbines when it flows down hill.

Geothermal

Geothermal energy is the free energy source that is not coming from above our planet, but from within it. Geothermal energy can be tapped in and used for a variety of applications like heating or even electric power production.

Biomass

Biomass is the energy called which we get from plants or plant-derived materials. Corn, for instance is now used to create ethanol and soy beans for making diesel. One of the oldest form of using biomass to create energy is the burning of wood to keep warm or cook.

Solar Power

Solar power is a clean renewable free energy source which is provided by the sun's heat and light.

It can be used in large-scale operations and in smaller home systems. Technologies used for solar power are photovoltaic systems, where the suns light energy is transformed into electric current, concentrating solar power systems, where sun rays are collected by mirrors or similar and concentrated into one spot to generate increased heat, usually for cooking and of course solar heating systems, where the sun’s rays are used to heat a fluid that is fed through pipes in a solar collector. There are even a number of  DIY guides to build your own solar power system, so you can get power for free.

Do you want to use green, renewable energy and get your power for free?
